In a relationship, it is of paramount importance to have excellent sexual health. In order to sustain a loving and happy connection with your partner, a certain degree of intimacy is required, or else it will affect your bond. A happening sex life can solve a lot of problems that couples undergo, without having to consult a counselor.

Sexual Health

Sexual health must be maintained for the benefit of your partner as well as yourself. Here are some tips:

  • Various studies have proved that smoking is one of the main causes of sexual problems in men such as erectile dysfunction. It can lead to low sperm count and quality as well. As for women, their fertility rate is affected if they are regular smokers.
  • Exercise always helps – leading a lifestyle without any form of workout is a strict no-no. You can consult a fitness expert to chalk out a schedule to exercise regularly – it can involve running, cycling, or playing a sport. If you prefer going to the gym, then perform strength training exercises, which improve sexual as well as physical health. The level of fitness has a bearing on sex related issues.
  • Catching up with a few friends for drinks is fine, but when you overdo consumption of alcohol, it might hamper your sexual health by negatively impacting your libido and the ability to climax.
  • Excessive weight gain can drastically lower your sexual appetite. You need to shed off those extra pounds to spark off those sexual hormones that have been masked by obesity.
  • Your diet plays an integral role in controlling sexual health, especially the food items that help to boost heart health. The levels of cholesterol and blood sugar have to be regulated by eating right. Include vegetables, fruits, nuts, and grains in your daily food intake.
  • Sleeping and resting is a must, regardless of how busy you are. At least 6-7 hours of sleep at night is necessary for your body to function properly. Stress can easily upset the sexual equation, which is why you need to have a time-out in order to unwind and re-energize at times.

If you face any problems while having sex, don’t self-diagnose and start medication that is recommended by friends. It is important to get a professional opinion. There is no need to feel embarrassed as problems related to sexual health are quite common these days and can be easily cured.
